When I was an undergraduate at Boston University, I majored in music through the College of Arts and Sciences. This was a calculated move since not being a performance major would allow me the freedom to take lots of electives. One of the subjects I pursued was electronic music. Over the course of three semesters, I learned everything from the history of electronic music to how to go about recording/building a sample library and using it in a composition with MIDI. The classes were built around a series of hands-on projects designed to familiarize the students with different processes and software suites.
