I have always held the opinion that, although I may not be a very skilled photographer, I am at least capable of recognizing a good picture when I see one. (Thanks, minor in art history!) Correspondingly, my strategy with a camera has been to take as many pictures as possible and then to sort through the garbage afterward. I took my 10,000th picture some time around February 2005, a couple years after buying my first camera (a Canon PowerShot A70). Most of them weren't very good, but I was pretty excited. Sifting through the pile, I sorted out the ones that I thought were the best.
